2024 United Nations Civil Society Conference
The Bahrain Human Rights Society participated in the 2024 United Nations Civil Society Conference from May 9 to 10, 2024 in the presence of the Kenyan President and the Secretary-General of the United Nations. The conference included many workshops and seminars to prepare for the Summit of the Future in September 2024 at the United Nations headquarters in New York, and to increase awareness of the various initiatives to influence the content of the Future Pact that will be discussed during the Summit.
The Nairobi conference will be used to build multi-stakeholder coalitions to raise the ambition of the Future Pact, support specific issues and major reforms proposed to the Pact, and to ensure its future implementation. The Summit of the Future will result in an intergovernmental Pact for the Future, annexed with a Global Digital Compact and Declaration on Future Generations, which all hope will contribute to deliver a United Nations for the people and the planet in the 21st century and beyond. The Palestinian issue was present in the speeches of the participants and the chants of the attendees.
